Sustainability

MHP conducts its business activities guided by the principles of sustainable development.
Each MHP facility has a dedicated ecologist or an appointed representative responsible for environmental protection — a role entrusted only to specialists who have completed professional development programmes, passed the required assessments, and hold recognised certifications.

Our environmental specialists address the following priorities on a daily basis:

  • Adherence to all applicable environmental legislation
  • Systematic reduction of waste generated across production and operations
  • Minimising consumption of energy and natural resources, including water
  • Reducing the environmental footprint of MHP’s operations
  • Preventing environmental incidents and accidents that could result in significant ecological harm
Our environmental specialists address the following priorities on a daily basis:

MHP’s vertically integrated business model includes biogas production facilities powered by plant biomass, animal by-products, and wastewater. Feed mill grain dryers have been converted to run on sunflower husks rather than natural gas. A pilot facility producing fuel briquettes from grain processing waste has been operational for more than a year — generating fuel from renewable sources while significantly reducing pressure on local waste infrastructure.

Animal welfare

Healthy poultry is the foundation of safe, high-quality food. MHP recognises the social responsibility that comes with large-scale animal production. Humane treatment is implemented and upheld across all our enterprises, guided by a policy developed in line with both local and European regulatory standards.

Nutrition

Animals receive compound feed produced from raw materials grown within MHP’s own operations, guaranteeing full oversight of feed quality. Fresh drinking water is available at all times in sufficient quantities.

Living Conditions

We maintain environments with appropriate microclimate controls and adequate space to allow animals to move freely and comfortably.

Health Management

Prevention is the foundation of our approach. Animals are under continuous supervision by qualified specialists, receive scheduled preventive vaccinations, and are given prompt treatment when required.

Qualified Personnel

All veterinary supervision is carried out exclusively by certified professionals with the appropriate level of expertise.

We operate in accordance with international standards, actively working to eliminate conditions that could cause injury, fear, or stress in animals. Every employee involved in poultry handling has been trained and certified by the State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection.

MHP shares GLOBALG.A.P. standard covering the full production cycle — including stocking density, animal welfare, biosecurity, environmental protection, and employee wellbeing.

Supervision from day one

Zoological inspection specialists conduct daily assessments covering litter quality, poultry house microclimate, feed and water availability, and the overall condition of the flock. Any individuals showing signs of developmental delay, weakness, injury, or lameness are removed from the flock humanely.

No acts of violence or mistreatment are permitted at any stage of handling, transport, or slaughter. Animal welfare inspectors oversee all bird movement to ensure procedures are carried out calmly and without unnecessary stress. Transportation conditions are closely monitored to minimise suffering.

Supervision from day one

A structured feedback loop between slaughterhouses and farms enables ongoing assessment of animal welfare during both rearing and transit. Clear KPIs govern health, welfare, and injury rates during capture and transport. In cases of non-compliance, a formal corporate investigation is initiated to identify root causes and corrective actions.

Quality control

Product quality and food safety are at the core of everything MHP produces. Rigorous oversight is applied at every stage of production across all MHP enterprises, ensuring that finished products consistently meet the highest quality and safety benchmarks.

Our quality system is built on four commitments:

  • Every customer comment and product query is reviewed by qualified specialists and receives a meaningful response
  • Corrective actions are identified and implemented promptly when needed
  • MHP specialists undergo continuous professional development
  • All products pass through a multi-stage quality control process

Production Quality Control

Multi-level oversight covers:

  • Production facility standards and incoming material quality
  • Specialist compliance with veterinary, sanitary, and technological requirements
  • Adherence to leading international quality standards
  • Implemented food safety management systems
  • Compliance monitoring by MHP’s central Department of Technology, Quality and Food Safety
sustainability

Particular attention is given to raising healthy poultry under optimal conditions — temperature, humidity, ventilation, and space

Feed is produced from MHP’s own raw materials. The incubation process is fully automated and monitored by qualified specialists from the first day of life.

MHP’s processing and packaging technologies meet the highest international standards, supported by the following certifications — renewed annually:

  • BRC Food Safety — International food safety standard
  • FSSC 22000 — Food and feed safety certification scheme
  • ISO 22000 (DSTU ISO 22000) — Food safety management system
  • GlobalGAP — Integrated agricultural production management system
  • HALAL — System of voluntary certification for compliance with the canons of Islam

Laboratory Control

Comprehensive laboratory testing is conducted across all MHP Group facilities, covering:

  • Incoming raw materials, ingredients, and packaging
  • Finished product quality
  • Wastewater, groundwater, surface water, biological sludge, and organic mixtures
  • Sanitary conditions across production, storage, laboratory, and adjacent areas, including production staff

Laboratory oversight throughout every stage of production provides an additional layer of assurance for food quality and safety.

Full Production Traceability

MHP maintains an integrated traceability system covering the entire production lifecycle — from growing and catching through slaughter, processing, and transportation. The system is audited at minimum once per year to confirm its ongoing effectiveness.

Anti-Fraud & Product Protection

MHP has implemented a multi-layered system to protect against food fraud and malicious tampering:

sustainability

Access Control

Facility access is restricted to authorised production personnel. Vehicles are parked outside production zones, a pass system is in place, and the site is equipped with security systems to prevent unauthorised entry.

Internal Security

Identity and qualification verification are carried out prior to employment. Staff receive safety briefings, and secure communication protocols are in place across departments.

Fraud Detection

Dedicated multidisciplinary teams operate across MHP facilities with the specific mandate of protecting consumers from food fraud and minimising vulnerability to economically motivated criminal activity.
